Hi there! My name is Clay Man Soo. I am an Asian-American, actor, teaching artist, musician, singer, and model, based in Minneapolis, MN.
Black Lives Matter. Stop Asian Hate.
Since graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College, I have played, taught, or worked with The Guthrie Theater, Theater Mu, The Children’s Theatre Company, Alliance Theatre, The Great River Shakespeare Festival, Park Square Theatre, History Theater, Jungle Theater, Artistry, Pangea World Theater, The Lab Theater, Playwright’s Center, Penumbra Theatre, Lyric Arts, The South Dakota Shakespeare Festival, Theatre Coup D’Etat, BARd Shakespeare Company, and Superlative Films. I am represented by Wehmann Models & Talent Agency, Moore Creative Talent Agency, and Agency Models & Talent. Looking forward to working with the Ten Thousand Things, The Playwright’s Center, and TigerLion Arts in 2022/2023. Eternally grateful for Jenelle Chu, Eric Sharp, H. Adam Harris, Janely Rodriguez, and Sun Mee Chomet. All my unending love for my partner, Jordan Leggett, and our puppy, Lanny.
I remember growing up in rural Minnesota and playing pretend in the backyard with my siblings and neighborhood friends. I loved doing class plays and reading books in front of other people. My most memorable and one of my early plays was in 6th grade. I played Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol; I was eleven years old. I’ve been in the theater ever since.
A list of things I enjoy:
-Friendly conversations with strangers
-A warm mocha or latte
-Finding a lost sock, or some small treasure that only matters to you
-A full battery on my phone
-Jon Batiste singing What a Wonderful World
-Also Chance The Rapper's version of The Arthur Theme Song (Wonderful Everyday)
-Writing and receiving cards, letters, or stationary
-Sitting in the front row
-Spending time with my partner and our puppy
-Discovering something new in your area; a restaurant, coffee shop, artwork, etc.
-Sharing a desert with a dear friend at the end of your dinner
-Dancing with a drink or two in me
”Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today, I am wise, so I am changing myself”. -Rumi
