Hi there! My name is Clay Man Soo. Korean Meaning: Man - Full. Soo - Outstanding.
I am an Asian-American, actor, teaching artist, musician, singer, and model, based in Minneapolis, MN.
Black Lives Matter. Stop Asian Hate.
Since graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College, I have played, taught, or worked with The Guthrie Theater, The Children’s Theatre Company, Alliance Theatre, Ten Thousand Things, Theater Mu, Pillsbury House + Theatre, The Great River Shakespeare Festival, Park Square Theatre, History Theater, Jungle Theater, Artistry, Pangea World Theater, The Lab Theater, Playwright’s Center, Penumbra Theatre, Upstream Arts, Onstage MN, Lyric Arts, The South Dakota Shakespeare Festival, Theatre Coup D’Etat, BARd Shakespeare Company, and Superlative Films. I am represented by Wehmann Models & Talent Agency, and Moore Creative Talent Agency. Eternally grateful for Jenelle Chu, Eric Sharp, Katie Bradley, Rich Remedios, and Sun Mee Chomet.
I remember growing up in rural Minnesota and playing pretend in the backyard with my siblings and neighborhood friends. I loved doing class plays and reading books in front of other people. My most memorable and one of my early plays was in 6th grade. I played Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol; I was eleven years old. I’ve been in the theater ever since.
A list of things I enjoy:
-Friendly conversations with strangers
-A warm mocha or miel latte
-Finding a lost sock, or some small treasure that only matters to you
-A full battery on my phone
-Learning something new for others
-Jon Batiste singing What a Wonderful World
-Also John Legend singing Bridge Over Troubled Water Live
-Cooking with a new recipe
-Writing and receiving cards, letters, or stationary
-Watching Oprah deliver a speech
-Sitting in the front row
-Spending time with my partner and our puppy
-Singing Karaoke with friends and strangers
-Listening to white noise to meditate
-Discovering something new in your area; a restaurant, coffee shop, artwork, etc.
-Sharing a desert with a dear friend at the end of your dinner
-Dancing with a drink or two in me
-Witnessing humans be human
”Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today, I am wise, so I am changing myself”. -Rumi
